We can’t believe it’s been a decade since The Strokes uttered their famous statement/question(?), Is This It, and Stereogum has issued a downloadabe tribute album that is worth a bit of a listen. As such, we hear a couple of the stronger tracks in the collection by Peter Bjorn & John, and Real Estate, (the former having recently released a new disc, and the latter putting out a follow-up to their 2009 self-titled debut this fall).
Also this week, some new music from other bands releasing albums this fall: M83, Dum Dum Girls, and locals Ohbijou (who will also be playing This Ain’t Hollywood on September 28th).
And since that Dum Dum Girls track sounds like an unabashed rip off of Mazzy Star‘s 1994 hit “Fade Into You,” we end with a trippy cover over that song by Vancouver’s the Western Magnetics.
